The Imageon™ 2300 powers the LG SV360 mobile phone, enabling gaming on a higher resolution (320×240) landscape. The LCD display provides for crisp images rendered by the Imageon™ 2300 at over 10,000 Triangles per frame – a visual quality threshold not previously attainable on mobile phones. Games and applications are able to benefit from ATI’s Imageon™ hardware 3D acceleration through the OpenGL ES 1.0 mobile gaming API. The LG SV360 was already a sturdy handset with more horsepower under its screen to put any other phone to shame.

It could display 1 million polygons per second, around 5 times faster than anything else available. The phone is also equipped with acceleration sensors that allow the user to control the game by moving it up and down or left and right, maximizing game enjoyment.

The phones are also built with a 2.2-inch LCD screen, allowing users to play 3-D games with increased screen quality.

But yesterday, ATI announced it wants a piece of the pie. The SV360 packs in ATI’s Imageon 2300 media processor, giving it the power to render over 10,000 triangles per frame. According to ATI, there is no mobile phone on the market capable of reproducing this caliber of crisp visual quality, and also this is the first mobile phone from LG to use an ATI chip.

The SV360 can display games and applications in a 320×240 landscape mode, and it uses the OpenGL ES 1.0 mobile gaming API. The SV360 also offers the first mobile 3D user interface on a mobile handset, a gyroscopic controller and stereo speakers add to the console-like gaming experience.

Shipping later this year, the SV360 is the most powerful and most advanced 3D gaming phone offering a console-like gaming experience and ergonomics.
